A resting metabolic rate test (RMR) will identify how many calories your unique physiology burns at rest which accounts for approximately 70% of your daily calories. Based on your RMR and gas exchange from your breathing, our state of the art KORR machine can estimate your specific calorie burn during daily activities and exercise. Your gas exchange from your breath also helps to identify how much sugar or fat your body burns for fuel and in what ratios. How it works and How to Prepare

The RMR test requires you to sit as comfortably and quietly as possible for 15-20 minutes while breathing into a tube. Your breath will have a unique signature from the percentage of carbohydrates and fat you’re burning while at rest. So it’s a tremendous amount of really useful information and all you need to do is sit and breath! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Make an appointment and show up on time

  • Make sure you’ve followed the pre-test protocol of:

    • Avoid eating or drinking anything other than water for at least 4 hours before the test

    • Avoid exercise prior to the test

    • Avoid the use of stimulants including caffeine

  • For the test you’ll recline in a chair with your eyes closed and breath steadily into a tube
  • Immediately review and discuss your results with the lab technician
